What it measures

The VIX measures the volatility implied by S&P 500 options. Crypto often moves with broader risk appetite, so the VIX is a useful outside reference.

How to read it

Below 15 is calm, 20–25 is elevated and above 30 signals market stress. Rising VIX usually means risk assets, crypto included, face headwinds.
